Southern Lee Eliminated in 1st Round by Rocky Mount 40-14

The Southern Lee Cavaliers lost to Rocky Mount on the road Thursday night in the 1st round of the State 3A Football Championship.   The Cavaliers, representing the Tri-County 3A, were down two starting offensive linemen and two defensive starters to injury, proving to be too much to overcome as the #12 Southern Lee Cavaliers fell to the #5 Rocky Mount Gryphons 40-14. Two first half touchdown passes by Junior Quarterback DeAndre McAllister kept Southern Lee close at half 20-14, but the Gryphons rushing attack and 5 Southern Lee turnovers ended the Cavalier season at 6-5. Rocky Mount held Southern Lee to 37 yards rushing and shut the Cavaliers offense down in the 2nd half.  Rocky Mount improves to 9-3 on the season and travels to face #4 Terry Sanford in the 2nd round next week.
