Brown, Yellow Jackets Rush Past St. Pauls – Win Home Opener 41-19

Drake Brown rushed for 197 yards and three touchdowns to lead a strong Lee ground game and the Yellow Jackets wore down St. Pauls 41-19 to start the season at 2-0.  Lee County rolled up 382 yards on the ground and the defense did enough to slow down the visitors and pick up a Senior Night win.  Lee County had 467 yards of total offense to 281 for St. Pauls – a long time 2A power with good athletes that kept pace with Lee throughout the first half.  Lee County will host SE Guilford this coming Friday at Paul Gay Stadium.

Brandon Baldwin added 101 yards on 12 carries and QB Jack Martin added 85 passing yards when needed and the Lee County offense suddenly has 97 points through 2 games.

• Drake Brown was named as the Norman Financial Group Offensive Player of the Game and Defensive Lineman Trey Chubbs was selected as the Defensive Player of the Game for Lee County.
• The Bubba’a Subs and Pizza Impact Play of the Game was Drake Brown’s 87-yard dash for a touchdown to put Lee County up 20-6 in the 2^nd quarter.
• The Wilkinson Coach’s POG pick will be announced on the Steve Burdeau Coach’s Show this coming Tuesday night at 7:00 pm on WFJA Sports.
• Lee County rolled up 24 first downs on the night with 6 penalties for 55 yards and 2 turnovers (both fumbles).
• Jayden Hill had another nice night for the Yellow Jackets and now has 11 catches thru two games and ended a St. Pauls drive with an acrobatic interception in the end zone.
