Jonathan Hockaday & Tim Kennedy Win Quail Ridge Classic Titles
Jonathan Hockaday fired a one under par 71 on Saturday in the Quail Ridge Classic Championship to take a two-shot lead, and then held off Dylan Kennedy of Troy Sunday to win the title by one with a 146 total. Kennedy, who shot a 74 on Saturday, was 2 under early in his round Sunday to move into a tie for the lead but it was steady play by Hockaday down the stretch that proved to be the difference. The Championship Division was played from the Quail Tees at 6,938 yards with difficult pins and hot, humid conditions.
Hockaday, playing in the final group behind Kennedy on Sunday, parred the 18th after an approach to 15 feet for the win. “I really thought I needed a birdie to win but it turned out par was enough. Dylan played really well early today and made it tough out there. The course played long and there were some difficult but fair pins.”
Dylan’s dad, Tim Kennedy, shot 75-71 to come from behind to win the Senior Championship. Randy Kivett won a scorecard playoff over Craig Sturdivant to finish runner-up.
