Lee County Beats Eastern Guilford 41-7 in Opening Round of Playoffs

The Lee County Yellow Jackets improved to 12-0 on the season as they rolled past Eastern Guilford in the opening round of the NCHSAA 3AA State Football Championship.  AJ Boulware rushed for 243 yards on 26 carries and Lee County blew open a tight game in the final minute of the 3rd quarter.    Lee County led 14-7 before two 3rd quarter field goals by Trey Underwood padded the Lee lead to 20-7.  After a Wildcat turnover, Colin Johnson hit Timmy Lett over the middle for a 27-yard TD pass and the rout was on.    QB Colin Johnson was an efficient 7 of 8 on the night for 83 yards but it was the running of Boulware and some nifty runs by Johnson, that were the difference.    The Lee County defense held Eastern Guilford to 8 yards of offense in the 2nd half on their 1st 5 possessions to shut out the Wildcats in the 2nd half.    Lee County will face #9 Southern Alamance – a 35-0 winner over Northern Durham – next Friday night at Paul Gay Stadium.
