Lee County Rolls Into 3rd Round – Face Cleveland Next Friday Night

The Lee County defense came up big against Southern Alamance and controlled the game throughout leading the Yellow Jackets to a 33-12 win and a 3rd round game next Friday night.   Southern Alamance had -16 yards in their first five 2nd half possessions and Lee County raced to a 33-0 lead and put the game away.   The defensive front of Dez Evans, Deandre Dingle Prince, Derran McKoy, Delmaz Jennings, JoJo Jennings and Larry Baldwin had 9 tackles behind the line of scrimmage, held the Patriots to 55 yards on 33 carries, and kept the Patriot running game in check.

Colin Johnson and AJ Boulware did the rest.   Boulware finished the night with 138 yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns but Johnson may have had his best game of the season.   The senior QB, with stomach illness Thursday and Friday and questionable for the game, finished 17 of 21 for 114 yards and 2 scores to lead Lee County.   #1 Lee County will face #5 Cleveland HS of Clayton – a 35-14 winner over DH Conley – next Friday night at Paul Gay Stadium in Sanford.
