This Friday Night – Pancakes & Cold Temps – Southern Lee @ Lee County
This Friday night is the final night of the local high school football regular season. As usual, the regular season will end with the two local high schools meeting in a rivalry matchup that will affect the post-season placement of both teams. It’s a game for a years’ worth of bragging rights and supremacy over the crosstown rival. Many of you will remember back when Friday night games were a huge part of our town – and everyone came out to support the local team. Well, this Friday at 7:00 is about as close as we’ll get to that – when Southern Lee visits Lee County. There will be two avid fan bases that will be ready to urge their teams to a win and below is a look at what fans can expect this Friday and the best way to enjoy your Friday night.
Kiwanis Pancakes
The annual Kiwanis Pancake Dinner will be at the Lee County HS Cafeteria Friday beginning at 4 pm. Many will take advantage of this by coming early (5:30ish) to enjoy some pancakes and sausage and then take the short 50-yard stroll over to Paul Gay Stadium. This has become a tradition – combining Kiwanis Pancakes with the local football rivalry and both groups of fans have joined to help support the Kiwanis event in previous years.
Parking
The upper lot by the Cafeteria and Baseball field will be the place to park if you are combining pancakes and football, but 3 different parking lots are available for game parking. The lower lot (across from the SECU) will be available. Parking is available in front of the school and the upper lot by the cafeteria is available as well. Come early as several thousand fans will be expected for the game.
Temperatures
It’s going to be cold! Temps will be in the low 40s at kickoff and drop slightly during the game. While the winds will be strong during the day as the front moves through, the breeze should be back down to 4-5 mph for the evening. Wear plenty of clothes & bring a blanket – BE PREPARED!!
The Game
The game will feature the 10-0 Lee County Yellow Jackets and the 6-3 Southern Lee Cavaliers. Both teams are trying to improve their seedings for the upcoming playoffs and the Tri-County 3A Conference Title is on the line. It should be a good one!
